We were very sad to learn yesterday of the passing of Nikolai (Ivanovich) Batushin. Husband to Jhenya (Ivanovna), father of long time Ruskoka Camp volunteers Henry and Nina, and grandfather to Ruskoka counselors Sasha, and Valya and Ruskoka campers Katyusha, and Misha. Always a dedicated volunteer worker, Nikolai was a very active participant in the Toronto Russian Orthodox Church community, helping to establish and build the parishes at Jackson’s Point and Toronto. He will be missed by many in our church community. Our deepest sympathies to his family, children and grandchildren. Tsarstvo Nebesnoye. An elegant champagne and vodka reception welcomed guests, and provided the opportunity to meet Miss Inga Skaya, Miss Universe Canada 2007! The Charity Silent Auction offered over 200 exquisite and diverse items up for bid. The gourmet dinner was followed by greetings from the honorary chairs, Michael Ignatieff and Madeline Ziniak, and spectacular performances by the Polianka Dance Ensemble and Dr. Draw! Guests danced the night away to the music of Steve Mitchell's Orchestra and DJ Chris in the glamorous King's Garden Ballroom.
