Dear Ruskoka Camp Volunteers,

Thank you to the 15 volunteers that came last work weekend: Nika, Natasha, Maxine, Andrew, Sophia, Kira, Victor, Max, Oles, Tetyana, Marina, Vlad, Alexey, Andrew and Alik.  This was truly a mega work weekend. We all worked harder than ever and got more work done than expected. Too many jobs to list, but here are some:

— cut grass everywhere

— finished, sanded and urethaned window and door trim in the basement

— replaced the camp kitchen plumbing, jetpump and holding tank

— finished electrical wiring in the camp bathroom

— installed all the toilets in the camp bathroom

— sanded and urethaned two large pine book shelves for the office

— cut up two trees on the path to the girls camp

— built culvert retaining walls for the driveway and in front of the pavilion

— moved the huge gravel pile in front of the house to the driveway and culverts

— cleaned up after excavation work around the house

— raked out and graded the front, side and back yeard of the house

— cleaned up the basement after construction

— installed a new outdoor light over the garage

— cleaned up all the branch piles around the firepit

— once again provide fresh meat for the gazillion black flies and mosquitoes

— worked in the pouring rain

— tested the commercial coffeemaker (still doesn’t work)

— put up No ATV signs on trails

— check survey markers

— and…..cooked, cleaned, fed, for all 15 hungry volunteers!

A hard working and super productive work weekend that we should all be proud of. Thank You !!

Join us again! The next work weekend is in only two weeks !! July 4 and 5, 2009. Don’t miss the fun.

Some of the things we plan to do next work weekend, and following work weekends…

—  cut grass everywhere, again

—  clean up after basement renovations

—  clean and set up the office area

—  install UV filters

—  clean up the boys and girls camps

—  cut trees, clean up branches around property, rake leaves

—  clean up the chapel and set it up for the feast day

—  clean up the new camp bathroom

—  build a small climbing/traversing wall

—  finish bathroom plumbing and install last toilet

—  connect outlets and finish wiring in chapel

—  cook food for all the volunteers, clean dishes, clean the house…

—  and lots of other fun jobs…
