Dear Ruskoka Camp Volunteers and Counselors,

Another phenomenal work weekend! Lots of projects completed, a couple mosquitoes fed, and everyone enjoyed the great company, delicious meals and fresh air that have become synonymous with Ruskoka! Thank you to Misha, Max, Dennis, Natasha, Oleg, Dasha, Marina, Alyosha, Dmitry, Natasha, Vika, Alexei, Pavel, Liza, Serguei, Sasha, Oleg, Natasha and Victor. Our longtime supporter and volunteer, Oleg, visited us on his honeymoon!

We cut grass everywhere, cleared and burned more brush in the boys camp, painted the house windows, cleaned the remainder of the chapel walls, clear coated the chapel fascia and upper drum, completed building the front wall of the pantry and the rear wall, installed a window in the rear wall of the pantry, cut out for a door from the pantry to the pavilion, moved electrical wiring and installed light and switch, fixed the yellow trailer window and stairs, installed a new sentinel light, put up signs and labeled canoes and lifejackets, repaired ATVs and tractors, transplanted a number of trees and plants, washed the chapel floor, held a 2 hour leadership training session with counselors, cleaned up everywhere, prepared delicious, phenomenal meals, and cleaned up after the huge group! Everyone worked hard and accomplished a lot despite damp weather on Saturday. Many went for a swim. Again, we completed tons of work and had a wonderful time together. For the next work weekend, lots of new projects, and some of the left-over tasks: cut grass everywhere, connect up new water system and well pump and test, fill in the ditches, clear coat the remainder of the chapel, seal the new concrete floor, paint the lifeguard boat, finish the walls in the pantry, install pantry door handle, install door from pantry to pavilion, finish painting the house window frames, finish fixing the ATV, fiberglass repair of shower, install valves on shower vents, re-seal the chapel floor, and lots more… We will be holding a Leadership Workshop at the same time as the Work Weekend, so we will be expecting a huge turnout! Counselors will be sleeping in tents (don’t forget to bring yours)… just like in camp! Since this will be a combined Leadership Workshop and Work Weekend, you need to let me know in advance if and when you plan to arrive.
