Ruskoka Directors, Counselors and Counselors-In-Training,
Thank you to the 14 enthusiastic Ruskoka staff that attended the Counselor Conference on May 28, 2011. We were reminded of the importance of summer camp, and both the privilege and responsibility our roles in camp carry. The President of the Ontario Camping Association also gave our Ruskoka group a personal tour of Camp Robin Hood. Following the conference, we held an extended camp planning meeting, followed by pizza dinner!
We will also hold an on-site counselor training day on July 23, 2011 for all staff and counselors. Part of the training will include a low-elements course given by Challenges Unlimited to facilitate proper use of our new challenge course and equipment.
If you plan to attend Ruskoka Camp this summer as a counselor or counselor in training, please send in your registration forms immediately. Spots for counselors are filling up very quickly. If you haven’t registered, you cannot be assured a position in camp. If you would like to help as a volunteer, let me know ASAP so we can schedule you in. We are actively looking for help in the camp kitchen.
Our next work weekend is June 25th and 26th, 2011. Our St. Alexis weekend is July 16th and 17th, 2011. Try to attend both and support your camp!
